I am currently driving up I95 to the nation’s capitol. Long drives tend to lead me into deep thought. I just want to remind everyone that you are not a failure if you keep changing jobs or can’t stay happy in one job. Society seems to place these unnecessary expectations on us and lead us to have a false belief of societal norms. Work hard. No days off. Stay in school (for 12 years). Be committed to the team. You know, get that good government paycheck shit.
I say fuck it. Quit!
Believe me, it’ll be hard. Trust me, I know. I’m in a situation where I’ve been forced to give 200 percent. Some days I feel like I will never be able to see the fruits of my labor; however, I’m encouraged to still persist.
The easiest way for me to describe my motivation to persist is that I’m beyond the idea that “I need a break.” I work everyday of the week but there’s no need to take a break because I’m in love with my life. My son is a prince and he’s definitely a chip off this old man’s block.
Last night, I was talking with Ashley Williams of BareSOUL Yoga about how I wasn’t feeling well. My head was completely stuffy and congested. It was 12:11 am and I was still working. I told her that if this was 5 years ago, I’d be sleep and dreaming of ways to call out of work on Monday and searching for a cure. But now my life is my cure. I’ve literally turned my life into a dream in which I get to do whatever the fuck I want. So, why would a little cold stop me?
My ask of you all is that you live a little. Stop waiting for Fridays and Labor Days. Free yourself from the systematic controls of this world, and work into a space that you don’t need to take a break from your daily life.
We need you.
Ajay.
